Notes: | Letters concern A.M. Sullivan's political and legal battles, especially his address to the House of Commons on 20 March 1874. Includes two photographic portraits of him. A.M. Sullivan was a politician, lawyer and journalist from Bantry, County Cork, who became a journalist in 1850. He was assistant editor of the The Nation from 1855, and subsequently editor and proprietor. In 1874 he was elected MP for Louth, and later for Meath, called to the Irish Bar in 1876, he was made QC in 1881. He was engaged in many notable trials. Physical description: 7 items. more |
