Playbill for the Theatre Royal's opening performance (and first performance in Ireland) of Voltaire's play "Mahomet", which was attended by the Lionel Sackville, 3rd Duke of Dorset, the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland and his wife. At head:"Never acted here". "At the Theatre-Royal in Smock Alley, /To-morrow, being Saturday the 2d of February, 1754, will be revived, / a new TRAGEDY called, /MAHOMET. / The Part of Zaphna to be performed by / Mr. SHERIDAN, / Mahomet by / Mr. SOWDEN, / Alcanor by / Mr. DIGGES, / Mirvan by Mr. Layfield, /Pharon by Mr. Haeaphy, / Ali by Mr. Stayley, / And the part of Palmira to be performed by / Mrs. WOFFINGTON. / After the Play, a Dance by / Mr. Mc NEIL, / and Miss BAKER. / To which will be added, a Farce, called, / The School-Boy. / The Part of the School-Boy to be performed by / Mrs. Green, / Major Rakish by / Mr. Sparks. / Boxes and Lattices, 5 s. 5 d.
