Summary: | The central image of the Irish National Theatre Society logo, designed by Elinor Monsell (d. 1954), was originally a produced from a pear woodcut. This early version of the logo showing Queen Maeve hunting with her wolfhound has Monsell's woodcut print with ink additions to the image, [the text 'Abbey Theatre' is inscribed in ink below the image] and a rough border also in ink, creating a rudimentary logo design. |
