Summary: | 1933 Fianna Fáil election poster; black type on white paper accompanied by two illustrations [by "Bee"; signed u.l.]. Text above the two illustrations reads: "MAKE IT CLEAR / that the Defeatists speak only for themselves". The first illustration shows four men (William T. Cosgrave, Patrick McGilligan, Senior Counsel Mr. John Fitzgerald-Kenney [note: name spelt incorrectly throughout this poster] and Ernest Blythe, at a table surrounded by books and sheets of paper. A radio (wireless) is shown in a niche in the background. [Though not mentioned on poster it is clear that is is the voice of British Prime Minister Ramsey McDonald that is emanating from it]. Cosgrave is shown standing, he is very animated and says (in a speech bubble):"Gentlemen we cannot unseat this new Irish government. Lets come to terms". With a pipe in his mouth, Mr. Fitzgerald-Kenney says "Hold on a little while - something may happen yet". In the second illustration the four men are shown seated. The radio blares the following "Mr. Cosgrave: - "England is right"; Mr. Blythe: - "De Valera has no case"; Mr. McGilligan: - "The Land annuities are Britain's"; Mr. Fitzgerald-Kenny [sic]: - "England must get them"; Mr. Desmond Fitzgerald: - "Pay or - ". Cosgrave says "Saved again"; McGilligan says "Attaboy", Mr. Fitzgerald-Kenney says "What did I tell you!" and Blythe says "Ha! Ha!". Under this the text reads: "GIVE FIANNA FAIL / a clear majority".
