Michael Banim, in his introductions, claims to have contributed two sections to his brother's [i.e. John's] Peter of the castle, and to have written The fetches. The Oxford companion to Irish literature (1996) and The concise Oxford companion to Irish literature (2000) attribute predominant authorship of Peter of the castle to Michael and sole authorship of The fetches to John Banim.
