Summary: | Engraved image on buff card. Across the top of card is written ”Love Union”; underneath a ribbon bears the words “We Support Our Sick & Bury Our Dead”. A harp with the crown features above the ampersand (“&”). At the bottom of the image is written “Associated Felt Makers of Donnybrook Established 1st, N[ov], 1813”. The image featured on the card shows a mill on the left and a tavern on the right (with a horizontal sign saying “Victory” over the door). A woman is coming out the door of the tavern handing a tankard to a traveller who has a knapsack on a stick on his back. The woman's husband is taking his hand and gesturing to him to enter into the tavern. There is a horse and wagon going over a bridge in the background and a sheep and lots of rabbits (or hares) featured in the foreground. There is small sign on the side of the tavern bearing the image of a rabbit (or hare?). Written in ink on on verso: "No. 27 May 16. 1814/The bearer Patk. Trell[?] is entitled to the benefit of the trade [beneath this signed by] E. Green[?], Wm. O' F[...]ham". |
