This Collection mainly consists of material relating to rural society predominately in counties Monaghan, Cavan, and surrounding districts. It was accumulated largely in the course of professional work by J. E. Wilson, a printer by trade, who operated from Whitehall Street, Clones, Co Monaghan. His predecessors were involved with printing in Clones since pre-famine times and the business remained operational until the middle 1980s.
Includes material relating to Methodist, Presbyterian and Church of Ireland churches in counties Monaghan, Cavan, Fermanagh and Leitrim. Also, papers re church charities in Co. Monaghan. Also, material re various recreational activities such as golfing, shooting and equestrian events. Also, papers re agriculture and cooperative movement in counties Monaghan, Louth and Cavan; includes catalogues for sale of cattle and annual reports of co-operative societies.
