Letter details the service history of the writer. A cannonier of the 11th Land Artillery Brigade he was ill when his corps embarked with Napoleon for the Egypt campaign. He joined the 5th Marine Artillery Brigade and went with them to Ireland where he was captured. Letter delivered free under prisoners of war agreement, letter is censored and stamped 'Transport Office, Prisoners of War'.
