Liam Deasy was an IRA officer in the 3rd Cork Brigade (West Cork) during the War of Independence and served under Tom Barry in the Kilmichael Ambush in November 1920 and the Crossbarry Ambush in March 1921. "Towards Ireland Free" was his first book.
