ALS from Seumas MacManus to George H. Casamajor, editor of Cosmopolitan Magazine,
1904 Jan 29.
|Main Creator:||MacManus, Seumas, 1869-1960|
Informs Mr. Casamajor that he did not like the illustrations for his story "Billy Burns", which appeared in a recent issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine, and asks for his stories not be illustrated in future with offensive illustrations which caricaturises the face and dress of the Irish characters they depict. Says that it offends Irish-Americans and mentions certain magazines that have been boycotted because of such illustrations. Recommends Frederic Dorr Steele as an illustrator for his stories.
This letter was later forwarded to Frederic Dorr Steele, among whose papers it was found.
