Discusses the Civil War and a set of chairs that may have got held up in Dublin. Laments that they haven't received any letters, telegrams, papers or parcel for 27 days. Mentions the fighting at Latoon Bridge and Newmarket Barracks, County Clare. Says that his brother's place Roslevan was burnt down by Republican forces and the house looted afterwards by the ordinary people of Ennis - "... pulling up shrubs, and fruit trees in the garden, taking doors, and windows, fences and gates etc etc!"
