| Summary: | She thanks Colonel Crosse "for taking the trouble to write to Nelsons about the mistake in the date in 'An Irish Cousin'". She goes on to say how careless it was of her not to have spotted it while correcting the proofs of later editions but "it is entered correcly in the first edn. Now long out of print". She explains how she was not responsible for "the terrible wrapper with the picture of the young man in a scarlet hunt-coat and a pot-hat!". She concludes by stating that the "Irish Cousin" was "Martin Ross and my first book". |
