Summary: | First letter regrets being able to visit Miss Hackett's home for the newsboys of K. [Kilkenny] to say a few word, "as Lady Desart desired that I would," promising to do so on another occasion, mentioning "My dear friend Captain Cuffe," enclosing a small cheque etc. The second letter withdraws his earlier suggestion that Miss Hackett should prepare a register of the poor and unemployed people of "K", which "however desirable would be quiet beyond the powers of a private person." Miss Hackett was a relation of the writer Francis Hackett, from Kilkenny. |
