Summary:Includes drawings, many signed signed ‘LLDB’ [attributed to Louisa Catherine Beaufort also known as Lady Louisa de Beaufort] of Italian travellers, Spanish nurses, Irish beggars, groups of Flemish, Dutch and Swiss peoples, Algerian soldiers, Sikh soldiers, English Generals, various Irish scenes including views of Edgeworth's Town House [dated June 1848, p. 43] and a watercolour on p. 34 "a hasty sketch by stealth / behind the pillars in the library of Edgeworthstown April 25th 1848"; continues "The lady writing is Maria Edgeworth - the well-known authoress of novels, tales, treatises, dramas and essays". Includes an image on [p. 28] entitled “Beggars and peasants assembled for Indian meal, July 1847”; signed ‘LLDB’, it is of people queuing for food at Poulacurra House (it is unclear where the location of the house was - there is however a place called Poulacurra in Glanmire, Co. Cork). This image is featured in Noel Kissane's publication "The Irish Famine: A Documentary History" (Syracuse University Press and the National Library of Ireland, 1995).

Notes:Attributed to Louisa Catherine Beaufort, (1781-1863), an Irish antiquarian, author and artist. Her sister Frances, botanist and writer, married, [as his fourth wife], Richard Lovell Edgeworth, (1744-1817) and she became step-mother to the novelist Maria Edgeworth.
