Summary: | Souvenir printed linen handkerchief sold in 1913, when the Abbey Theatre toured America and issued in support of the Hugh Lane bequest of his pictures to Ireland. Featuring a reproduction of a drawing of the cast of George Bernard Shaw's 'The Shewing-Up of Blanco Posnet' and portraits of actors Sara Allgood, Eithne Magee, Sydney J. Morgan, J.A. [Joseph Augustine] O'Rourke, Joseph M. Kerrigan, Udolphus Wright and Fred O'Donovan, (all accompanied with their autograph apart from the portrait of William Butler Yeats), with a quotation from the William Butler Yeats poem 'To a Wealthy Man who Promised a Second Subscription to the Dublin Municipal Gallery if it were Proved the People Wanted Pictures' and a quotation from Lady Augsuta Gregory's play 'The Rising of the Moon'. |
