Summary:Scene from 'The Playboy of the Western World' by John M. Synge, first performed January 26, 1907. This illustration features: Michael Scott as Shawn Keogh, Maureen Delaney as 'Widow Quinn', F.J. McCormick as 'Philly Cullen', Arthur Shields as 'Christopher Mahon', P.J. Carolan as 'Old Mahon', Barry Fitzgerald as 'Michael James Flaherty' and Eileen Crowe as 'Margaret Flaherty' (Pegeen Mike) and of the 1927 Abbey Theatre production. The opening night was Monday, 11 July 1927 and there were seven performances, Monday to Saturday evening performances [to Saturday 16 July 1927, with a matinee on that date]. This play was one of two plays produced on these nights - the other play was "The Proposal" by Anton Chekhov; Lennox Robinson was the director of both.
