Summary: | Featuring the image of a nun at the door of a building that has "Convent and Industrial School" carved into the lintel of the door over her head; she is saying goodbye to a young girl, who is being taken by the hand by Garald Balfour (1853-1945) to the building located in the right background which has the words "Poor House" [another name for a workhouse] written across it. The young girl is clearly distressed, wiping tears from her eyes with the material from the apron she is wearing. |
