Countryman.-"Yes, my lady, there were hundreds of people living about here, until the other day the Government sent down the sojers [sic] and polis [sic] with battering-rams and pertroleum - and look at the place now. Shure there isn't a house standin' for miles about except the polis-barracks [sic] up there.".
