The last obstacle
Grand Old Gladstone.-"Do not be disheartened, dear girl, at this little check to our progress ; Parnell and I will very soon knock that ramshackle affair to atoms - in fact, it will fall asunder of itself.".
William Gladstone carries an axe inscribed with the title 'Liberal opposition' with Charles Stewart Parnell carrying a notice 'Irish vote'. They console a disconsolate Erin as they face a fence inscribed with “No Thoroughfare, Fossil Tory Government, Rotten Whigs, Brumagem Radicals, Paper Unionists and Place Hunters”.
