Advertisement bound with copy cataloged reads in part: "The following essays have at different times appeared in one of the daily papers: ...[with] this collection [of] the first nine [i.e. ten] numbers... the author may be enabled to judge whether a continuation of them would be a useful employment, ..".
Numeration begins with no. 11, which is the first issue with this title.
Some copies have misprinted number XI as "X)".
