With the exception of the appendix, the text, in the main, is that of Part one of "The history of independency".
Includes: "The mystery of the two juntoes, Presbyterian and Independent, with some additions", first published separately 1647 and subsequently reissued as a preface to "The history of independency". "The history of independency, with the rise, growth, and practices of that powerfull and restlesse faction" has a separate, dated title page. "An appendix to The history of independency, being a brief description of some few of Argyle's proceedings, before and since he joyned in confederacy with the independent Junto in England: with a parallel betwixt him and Cromwell, and a caveat to all his seduced adherents" has a separate dated title page.
In this edition, line 7 of title reads: "bookes"; line 8 reads: "Iunto's", and there is a comma after "yeare" in imprint.
