Notes: | Original description for this photograph was 'Man working outside Gallarus Oratory, Co. Kerry'. Research by our Flickr Commons users identified the man in question as Seamus (Jim) Johnson, who maintained the Oratory during his lifetime. Seamus' nephew, Patrick Johnson, reported from Massachusetts, USA, that "Uncle Jim always had a dog with him. He was a very kind and gentle man … He used to stand up at the oratory and tell people the history of the place”. Featured in the National Library of Ireland's "Photo Detectives" exhibition at the National Photographic Archive, Dublin, 2017-2018.
