Summary:Laurence Sterne, (1713-1768), prebendary of York and author of "Tristram Shandy" : Nearly whole-length, direceted slightly to left, seated, looking more towards front, in wig and gown, right elbow on a table to left, on which are inkstand and papers reading, "pinxt. 1769 [1760]" and "e and opinions of Tristam Shand", supporting face on right hand, forefinger on temple, left hand on hip.
