Couple seated on a chaise-longue, with table laden with food and wine to their right, open window behind them to right with view of bay outside with volcano erupting on the fartherest shore. Woman is dressed in pale blue low cut dress, hair in curls. She offers a drink to the man beside her who is wearing a yellow waistcoat, mauve coat and looking glass around his neck. He is looking up in horror at the ghosts of starving ragged Irish peasants behind her. Their right arms are raised pointing at him.
