View of Portmarnock strand, County Dublin,Ireland. According to Brendan Scally in his accompanying notes, Kingsford Smith and crew flew a plane "The Southern Cross" from Portmarnock strand to America in 1931. Two years later, Jim Morrison a Scot, did a solo flight from Portmarnock Strand in a Puss Moth light aircraft to Newfoundland and then on to St. Brunswick, the first solo flight across the Atlantic.
