Summary:	The execution of King Charles I of England, (1600-1649), outside the Banqueting House, Whitehall, London, England, on 30th January 1649. Charles I is standing beside the block while his executioner waits with the axe over his shoulder. Behind Charles I is his confessor. Charles says "Into thine hands I comit [sic] my Spirit: thou hast redeemed me O Lord God of truth v.5. For I have heard the slander of many while they took counsel together against me, to take away my life. v. 13.". Below the scaffold are men, some with guns over their shoulders.
