[Charles I, King of England, Ireland and Scotland, (1600-1649), on his deathbed with his wife Henrietta Maria of France, (1609-1669), and his son Charles, (1630-1685), beside him].
Charles I says to his wife and son "Patientia Coronat Miseriam". His wife says "Quis Miser ut Ego". An angel holding a crown on a cloud above Charles says "Dabo tibi Coronam Vitæ". At the foot of the deathbed grows a thorn bush with a crown lying among the branches.
