Satirical cartoon featuring politicians depicted as though partaking in a scene from Charles Dickens' "Martin Chuzzlewit" - with William Gladstone as Pecksniff and Sir William Vernon Harcourt and John Morley as his daughters Charity and Mercy. They sit in front of a fireplace which has an image of Kilmainham Jail on the mantlepiece while on the walls hang pictures of the "Channel Tunnel" and "Ruin of the Irish Church".
