Summary:Widow McCormack's house played an important part in the Rebellion of 1848. There was a gun battle between a party of policemen who occupied Widow McCormack's House, at Farrenrory Upper, Ballingarry, County Tipperary, and a group of local miners and farmers lead by William Smith O'Brien's failure to capture this house marked the end of the rebellion.
