"Rint" v. Potatoes.
The Irish Jeremy Diddler.
Daniel O'Connell, M.P., (1775-1847), wearing his green velvet Mullaghmast cap, hands in pockets and looking dismally at a woman begging for money. She says "You haven't got such a thing as Twelve-pence bout y ou? A Farthing a week - a penny a month - a Shilling a year?". Around her are her starving children. In the background a man and child sit impoverished.
