Summary: | Print showing duel between Daniel O'Connell, (1775-1847), and John D'Esterre, (d. 1815). O'Connell criticized the Dublin Corporation in a public speech in 1815. Outraged that he wouldn't apologise, one member of the corporation John D'Esterre challenged him to a duel. Both men met at the estate of Lord Possonby, Bishopscourt, County Kildare, Ireland, and D'Esterre was mortally wounded. |
