The Rescuers and the Rescued.
Picture of the whaling ship "Catalpa" which went on a rescue mission to Australia in 1876. Captain George Anthony sailed the ship to Fremantle in Australia and rescued the six Fenian prisoners. There are smaller oval pictures depicting the members of the expedition and some of the prisoners rescued. From left to right they are John Breslin (an Irishman who went to Australia to organise the escape), Denis Duggan (a member of Clan na Gael and a crew member), Thomas Desmond (a crew member), Thomas Brennan, Captain Anthony (captain of ship), Thomas Hassett (Fenian escapee), Martin J. Hogan (Fenian escapee), Robert Cranston (Fenian escapee).
