Bibliographic Details
Main Creator: Tell, William, fl.1844 artist.
Summary:Two judges are depicted cutting out articles from newspapers concerning Daniel O'Connell for their scrapbook entitled "Scraps on Conspiracy". One of the judges remarks "We are doing our part but the Jury must be the Right-Sort for all I can find in these papers & Speeches are so perfectly legal & Constitutional that there is no case against the man". The other judge says "O'Connell is so damned clever I am afraid he will slip through our fingers". Daniel O'Connell peers over the scrapbook at them and says "Na Bocklish" I'll drive a coach & six through your Judge made Law". The scrapbook features images of contemporaneous items that were circulated amongst those who supported the Repeal Association - see NLI Ephemera Collection EPH C636 for the certificate entitled "Volunteers of 1782 revived" and NLI Ephemera Collection EPH A503 for an example of a Loyal National Repeal Association membershipcard.
