Susannah holds a lighted candle in her right hand and with her left hand holds her nose, looking at the doctor with anger. Her mouth is wide open. Dr. Slop stands to her left scowling with the cataplasm in a ladle in his left hand. He threatens Susannah with his right fist. His wig is on fire and his hat lies on the floor at his feet. Obadiah is hurrying towards the doctor with a basin in his left hand and a chamber-pot in his right hand. Beside the cradle a grandfather clock points to 6 o'clock.
