Contemporary straight-grained red morocco, sides with rolled borders of twining plants and flowers and with a large cross occupying most of each cover formed by two crossing rectangles of gilt rules, front cover letterd outside the cross "Royal Exchange Assurance / Office of [head of cross here] London/ ../5 College Green", smooth spine panelled by bunched gilt and blind rules, naturalistic tools at each panel centre, two brass clasps at fore edge, all edges gilt.

On two initial blanks are written out in contemporary pen firstly a form of swearing for "Presbyterians2 (120 lines) and secondly a form for Quakers, viz. 2Friends Affirmation" (10 lines)
