This book is an anthology taken from the Shamrock newspaper, the voice of Irish nationalism in America. Founded in 1810, the newspaper was associated with the United Irishmen and related political exiles in New York. The Shamrock "resumed" publication in 1814 so perhaps there was a break in publication between 1810 and 1814. Also, the newspaper ceased publication as the Shamrock in 1817. "Introductory essay" signed on p. xxiv: Wm D. Conway. GR 7059 contains the bookplate of James Valentine Reddy.
