Summary:Murder of James Carey, one of the Invincibles, by another Invincible Patrick Donnell, on board a ship to Cape Town, South Africa. Carey was arrested for the Phoenix Park murders in 1882 but his evidence helped to hang five of his comrades and imprison eight others. He was freed for betraying his accomplices in the murders. Chromolithograph depicts individual pictures - entitled - "The Melrose. The Ship in which Carey was shot", "James Carey. as he was known in Dublin", "James Carey.
