This lithograph shows Richard Pigott on the stand being cross-examined by barristers while Charles Stewart Parnell sits nearby; in the foreground a man is reading one of the letters supposedly written to 'The Times' by Parnell. The Parnell Special Commission in session investigating the charges made by 'The Times' newspaper connecting Charles Stewart Parnell to terrorism; Parnell was vindicated in 1890, the forger of the letters to 'The Times', Richard Pigott, was exposed under cross-examination.
