Portraits of Lord Frederick Cavendish, (1836-1882), Chief Secretary, and Thomas Henry Burke, (1829-1882), under-secretary, who were asassinated in the Phoenix Park, Dublin, Ireland. View of the park where they were murdered by the Invincibles is m.c.. View of James Carey's house l.c.. He was one of the Invincibles who carried out the murders of the Chief Secretary and his under-secretary. Carey's evidence helped to smash the Dublin group and Carey himself was murdered.
