Summary: | Hand-coloured mezzotint [pasted onto a sheet with architectural drawings present on it on verso] of an Irish Volunteer standing at a shore of a lake, one arm holding the reins of his horse and the other arm outstretched towards the figure of Liberty surrounded by her maids. Printed text underneath image: "To the Volunteers of Ireland this plate is most humbly dedicated by their most obediant humble servt. [servant] Thos. [Thomas] Macklin". Printed text lower left on sheet begins: "Borne on the winds, impelling Neptune's waves..." and printed text on lower right ends: "And to the Goal of Glory both will bravely guide?". |
