The siege of Athlone by British troops under Ginckel; in the foreground of the image several battles are depicted while in the background is the besieged town. Key to the battle of Athlone printed lower left and lower right in Dutch and French on sheet underneath the image, numbered 1-16 and B - I. Text underneath key in both Dutch and English can be roughly translated as "This heroic victory is achieved on July 1 . The glory of Protestant Christians is the vigilance of the English soldiers".
