Summary: | Watercolour of "Kruger" Kavanagh's pub, Ballinaraha, Dún Chaoin, Co. Kerry. Muiris “Kruger” Kavanagh was dubbed “Kruger” after Paul Kruger, a famous Boer leader. He migrated to the US but returned to Ireland after 16 years and established this pub. Inscribed in watercolour lower left of image: 'To my friend Kruger - Aug.16th 1945, C.M. Doran'. Inscribed in pencil on verso upper left: 'August 16th 1946. With all good wishes from C.M. Doran + F. Colbert'. |
