Summary:Erin looking amused at a little figure [Justin McCarthy, M.P.] dressed up as a knight beside her. This is a reference to the Irish National Federation (INF), founded in 1891 by former members of the Irish National League, who left the Irish Parliamentary Partyin protest when Charles Stewart Parnell refused to resign the party leadership. It was strongly supported by the Roman Catholic hierarchy and was led by Justin McCarthy and then subsequently by John Dillon.
