C.W. Cole spent time in Ireland working as a special artist for the The Graphic reporting on the events relating to the Irish Land League, 1880. At Ballinrobe he covered the so-called Boycott Relief Expedition (12th - 26th November, 1880), in which the army escorted the 50 "Orange Labourers", employed to save Captain Boycott's crops, to and from their camp at Lough Mask.

Attributed to C.W. Cole, (fl. 1880-1905), but another artist's name is mentioned on the drawing.
