At Ballinrobe, County Mayo, Ireland, he covered the so-called Boycott Relief Expedition (12th - 26th November, 1880) where the army had to escort the 50 "Orange Labourers", employed to save Captain Boycott's crops, to and from their camp at Lough Mask.
