Notes:C.W. Cole was sent to Limerick to cover the Land League Demonstration there which was to coincide with Charles Stewart Parnell being offered the Freedom of the city. Parnell arrived in Limerick on 1st November 1880 and attended the demonstration and the following day received the Freedom of the city.

Part of a series of engravings on the front page of the Graphic Newspaper, Saturday, November 27, 1880, under the title "The Land Agitation in Ireland - sketches by our special artist". This image was engraved, in slightly altered form, as a wood-engraving on page 529, under the title "Passing a demagogue to the front".
