| Summary: | Poster announcing a meeting to be addressed by Robert Fleming, President of the Co-operative Congress in the Rotunda, Dublin on October 6, 1914. Notice reads : "Would you help to raise the standard of living your own and that of your fellows? Then get in line! Every member has a voice in the management. Goods are sold at current prices and the profits instead of finding their way into the pockets of a few are divided equally amongst the members. Sweated labour, adulteration and every form of sharp practice are entirely eliminated. Mr Robert Fleming (President, Co-operative Congress) will speak on the aims and objectives of the Co-operative movement in the large concert room of the Rotunda (entrance by Cavendish Row) on Tuesday 6th October 1914 at 8pm". "Tickets can be had free at the Branch stores of the Dublin Industrial Co-operative Society: 17 Turlough Terrace, Fairview; 164 Church Road, 132 Thomas Street and 32 Drumcondra Road; at the Trades Hall, Capel Street, or from any Trade Union Secretary. All workingmen and women are cordially invited". At bottom of poster: "This is a democratic movement aiming at the control of industry in the interest of the people". |
