Notes:Bound in red linen cover, with leather spine and corners. Consist of sketches of birds from County Meath and County Dublin, Ireland. Title printed in gold lettering on spine.

Inscribed in ink on 4th unmarked sheet from beginning: Native Birds which were all shot in the County Meath except those marked in the Catalogue, painted by Miss Battersby & presented by her to the Right Hon: Royal Dublin Society, 1836.

One of 5 sketchbooks or albums given by a Miss Battersby to the Royal Dublin Society in 1820 and 1836. One other sketchbook is in the Ulster Museum, Belfast and gives the address of the artist as "No. 16 Mountjoy Square East [Dublin]" . According to the Dublin Directories this house on Mountjoy Square belongs to a Mrs. Battersby [presumably Miss Battersby's mother?]. She may have been Mary, the unmarried daughter of Robert Battersby of Bobsville, County Meath, (in 1763 he married Marianne, daughter and co-heiress of Haynes Wade of Lislin, County Cavan).
