Summary:Drawing of the Market Cross that once stood in Kilkenny, Ireland. It was erected in 1335 and by 1650, Cromwellian soldiers were using the crucifix on top for target practice. In 1771 it was demolished by Mayor Blunt because it was giving shelter to "idle and dissolute characters".

Notes:Inscribed in ink u.r. beneath title: NB. This building the only one of the kind in Ireland, as I can recollect was, thro more than Gothick barbarity demolish'd, in ye. year 1771. the whole was of marble, which the said county plentifully produced.
