| Credits: | Attributed to Angelo Maria Bigari (fl. 1772-1779) on the basis on the Italian words written on the drawings. Bigari is known to have visited Strade, County Mayo, Ireland, at the behest of William Burton, in whose collection this drawing must have been before it was acquired by Austin Cooper. Bigari's companion on the tour to Connacht in 1779 was Gabriel Beranger (1729-1817), and it is almost certainly his hand which wrote the title on the right-hand side of the sheet, as Bigari, apparently, spoke little or no English. |
